ISED has concluded its consultation on unlicensed use of the 6 GHz band and published some decisions:
- Allow Standard Power RLANS under the control of an AFC system in the range 5925-6875 MHz
- Allow Low Power indoor-only RLANS in the 5925-7125 MHz band, with the use of a contention-based protocol (e.g. listen-before-talk)
- Allow indoor and outdoor use of the 5925-7125 MHz band for very low power devices, with the use of a contention-based protocol (e.g. listen-before-talk)
Following this decision we can expect ISED to revise the Canadian Table of Frequency Allocations and develop technical standards that will be applicable to equipment operating in this band.
