Korea – New rules for 6 GHz band

Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT has published Notice 2020-59 that introduces technical requirements for unlicensed devices operating in the 6 GHz band.

For indoor devices the following band can be used:

Frequency Band (MHz) Occupied bandwidth Power density including absolute antenna gain Remarks
5925 – 7125 160 MHz or less 2 dBm/MHz Power density including absolute antenna gain should be average.

Limited to devices that are installed and operated by being connected to the building power supply, or devices that communicate with this device.

Not for use in moving objects such as automobiles, aircraft, railways, ships and drones.

For other devices:

Frequency Band (MHz) Occupied bandwidth Radiated power including absolute antenna gain Remarks
5925 – 6425 160 MHz or less 14 dBm or less

(Power density limited to 1 dBm/MHz or less)

Power density including absolute antenna gain should be average.

Use for drones is prohibited.

For built-in devices within automobiles use 6085 – 6425 MHz band.
