Japan has proposed changes to its Radio Law that will affect WLAN operation in the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. In brief these changes impact:

- Allow the operation of WLAN systems to use IEEE 802.11ax
- Extend the 5 GHz band to 5730 MHz to allow operation in Channel 144
- Revise the DFS radar detection mechanism employed for the 5.25-5.35 MHz band
