India – Final Procedure for Mandatory Testing & Certification of Telecommunications Equipment

TEC of India has published its final procedure for the Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecommunications Equipment or MTCTE. This covers the mandatory certification for a wide range of telecom equipment from simple telephones to more complex systems; and includes LAN switches, Wi-Fi equipment, microwave equipment and mobile BTS equipment.

Some product require compliance from 1st January 2019, the remainder from 1st April 2019. Products are expected to comply with the Essential Requirements (ERs) defined for each category an be labeled with the TEC certification marking.

Products will need to be tested against ER items by a TEC recognized laboratory. However, there is an initial opportunity to support certification applications with existing test reports from any other accredited lab before 31st March 2019.
