Brazil – Consultation for Certification Process of Telecommunications Equipment

Anatel has initiated Public Consultation No. 33 and proposes changes to Resolution 242 of November 30, 2000. Resolution 242 covers the regulations related to the Certification and Homologation of Telecommunications Products – the rules that govern the certification process.

The major changes proposed are:

  1. Products under Category III will need to be renewed after 5 years, if product is still being placed upon the Brazilian market
  2. Renewal and updates procedures, that currently have no Anatel fees, will have the fee of R$ 200 (Two hundred Reais)
  3. New statements of Market Supervision (Samples to be collected on the market)
