Mexico – New requirements for equipment blocking signals or transmissions of mobile terminal equipment (NOM-220)

Mexico has recently published draft Mexican Official Standard PROY-NOM-220-SCFI-2017 that includes requirements for equipment that can block mobile phone signals, radiocommunications and the transmission of images and other data.

This standard is expected to enter force 60 days after its publication in the Official Journal as a final standard. Comment period for the draft is open until 12 September 2017.

This standard established requirements for blocking equipment that can be used within federal and state rehabilitation centers, prison and youth detention facilities.

IFETEL’s regulation IFT-010-2016 will be used to assess products that fall within this scope.
