ISED has published Notice No. SLPB-001-17 opening a “Consultation on Releasing Millimetre Wave Spectrum to support 5G”.
This consultation covers the frequency bands 28 GHz, 37-40 GHz and 64-71 GHz. If adopted the 64-71GHz band would be available for WiGig or IEEE 802.11ad devices and would align Canada with the rule changes to extend this band in the US.
Comments can be made by 4 August 2017, and ISED will give interested parties and opportunity to respond to comments until 8 September 2017.
