EU – Radio Equipment Directive (2014/53/EU) – Harmonized Standards Update

european_unionThe harmonized standards list for the RED has been updated in the Official Journal of the EU. The latest list can be found at:
http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/PDF/?uri=uriserv:OJ.C_.2017.180.01.0005.01.ENG

The new standards are clearly indicated in the “First publication OJ” column of the document and the new ones are listed below (there are 29 new entries this month).

Important Note: Some standards have been included that were harmonized standards under the R&TTE Directive as they have been deemed to include testing necessary to meet the essential requirements of the RED. However, many have an important note that limits the scope of the presumption of conformity offered. For example, many are limited as follows:

This harmonised standard does not address requirements relating to receiver performance parameters and does not confer a presumption of conformity as regards those parameters.

These restrictions has been noted in the table below. Some key Short Range Device standards are now (partly) covered, including:

  • EN 300 440 for Short Range Devices operating in the 1GHz to 40GHz range
  • EN 301 893 for 5GHz WLAN
  • EN 302 567 for 60GHz WLAN
