The UK regulator OFCOM has recently announced a consultation for its plan to open the 5725-5850MHz band for Wi-Fi/WLAN devices on a unlicensed basis, as soon as possible. Responses on the proposal are expected by July 22, 2016. The 5725-5850MHz proposal is not EU wide and will be applicable to the UK only. If implemented, this proposal would increase the contiguous spectrum available and allow and additional two 80MHz channels or one 160MHz channel.
