The RED Compliance Association has published Technical Guidance Note 27 (TGN 27) that provides guidance for manufacturers on applying ETSI Standard EN 301 893 to demonstrate compliance with the essential requirements of the RED (contained in article 3.2).
This guidance takes into account that the latest revision of EN 301 893 (V2.1.0), not yet considered a harmonised standard, includes new requirements that meet different purposes. As well as incorporating receiver tests required by the RED, it also contains forward looking requirements that are aimed at coexistence with other technologies that will use the 5GHz RLAN bands (such as LTE-LAA).
In short, the guidance allows manufacturers and Notified Bodies to consider the following methods to assess products against the essential requirements until 12th June 2018:
Either:
- EN 301 893 v1.8.1 + clause 4.2.8 (Receiver Blocking) from EN 301 893 v2.1.0
(version 2.1.1 when published)
Or:
- EN 301 893 v1.8.1 + TS 103 521 v 1.1.1 (publication expected May 2017)
