This standard covers License Exempt Radio Apparatus, Category I equipment). Note that BT\/WLAN devices operating in the 2.4 &amp; 5GHz bands are now covered by RSS-247 and the original Annex in this standard for such devices has been removed. You can find the latest transition arrangements from Industry Canada towards the end of this post. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Listed below are the changes<strong>:<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Remove requirements for receivers, as these requirements are included in RSS-Gen, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ic.gc.ca\/eic\/site\/smt-gst.nsf\/eng\/sf08449.html\"><span style=\"color: blue; text-decoration: underline;\"><em>General Requirements for Compliance of Radio Apparatus<\/em><\/span><\/a>. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Remove annexes that are no longer covered in RSS-210. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Specify that frequency bands which are exclusively used by the Government of Canada are added to Note\u00a01 in Annex\u00a0A. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Remove requirements for momentarily operated and remote control devices in the band\u00a040.66-40.77\u00a0MHz, as these requirements are covered in Annex\u00a0B. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Modify out-of-band emission limits for equipment operating in the band\u00a013.11014.010\u00a0MHz (Annex\u00a0B). <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Incorporate requirements for cordless telephones operating in the band 44\/49\u00a0MHz (Annex\u00a03 of Issue 8) into Annex\u00a0B, as these requirements will apply to any type of communication. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Remove Section\u00a0A4.2 of Issue 8, Band\u00a0174-216\u00a0MHz (<em>Medical Telemetry<\/em>), as this band is no longer permitted for the Wireless Medical Telemetry System. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Remove repeater frequency bands for General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) equipment. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Add requirements for GMRS-M in the frequency range 462.55-462.875\u00a0MHz in Annex\u00a0E. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Amend the specifications for speed radar meters to include the band\u00a033.4\u201336.0\u00a0GHz in Annex\u00a0F. These devices were previously covered under Annex\u00a07 of Issue\u00a08 for frequency bands\u00a010.5-10.55\u00a0GHz and 24.075-24.175\u00a0GHz. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Remove Annex\u00a08 of Issue 8, Frequency Hopping and Digital Modulation Systems Operating in the Bands\u00a0902-928\u00a0MHz, 24002483.5\u00a0MHz and 5725-5850\u00a0MHz, and Annex\u00a09 of Issue 8, Local Area Network Devices, as these annexes are covered in RSS-247 (published May\u00a02015). <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Incorporate RSS-210, Amendment 1, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ic.gc.ca\/eic\/site\/smt-gst.nsf\/eng\/sf10933.html\"><span style=\"color: blue; text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Licence-Exempt, Low-Power Radio Apparatus Operating in the Television Bands<\/em><\/span><\/a> (published Feb 2015) into Annex\u00a0G of this issue. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Remove Annex\u00a011 of Issue 8, <em>Level Probing Radar Devices Enclosed in Containers and Still Pipes<\/em>, as this annex is covered in RSS-211 (published March\u00a02015). <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Remove Section\u00a013.1 of Annex\u00a013 Issue 8, <em>Vehicle-Mounted Field Disturbance Sensors in the Bands\u00a046.7-46.9\u00a0GHz and 76-77\u00a0GHz<\/em>, as this section is covered in RSS-251, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ic.gc.ca\/eic\/site\/smt-gst.nsf\/eng\/sf10887.html\"><span style=\"color: blue; text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Field Disturbance Sensors in the Bands 46.7-46.9 GHz (Vehicular Radar) and 76-77 GHz (Vehicular and Airport Fixed Radar<\/em><\/span><\/a> (published March\u00a02015). <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Specify emission limits for devices in the band\u00a057-64\u00a0GHz (in Annex\u00a0J) in terms of equivalent isotropically radiated power (e.i.r.p.) instead of power density and increase the e.i.r.p. limit for outdoor fixed point-to-point equipment. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Adopt measurement method and emission mask in ETSI\u00a0EN\u00a0300\u00a0422 for low-power radio apparatus operating in the TV bands. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Clarify limits for emissions radiated from digital circuitry contained within wideband devices (Annex\u00a0K). <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Full details and text of the new version can be found at: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ic.gc.ca\/eic\/site\/smt-gst.nsf\/eng\/sf01320.html\">http:\/\/www.ic.gc.ca\/eic\/site\/smt-gst.nsf\/eng\/sf01320.html<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Transition arrangements<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">The most recent guidance from Industry Canada on the transition period for implementing the new version of RSS-210 (Issue 9) is as follows: <\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">If a certificate has been issued to RSS-210 issue 8 before the date of publication of RSS-210 issue 9, nothing needs to be changed and it can be submitted as is to ISED via the Spectraweb application; <\/span><\/li>\n<li>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">If a certificate has not been issued before the date of publication of RSS-210 issue 9, ISED will continue to accept test reports compliant with RSS-210 Issue 8 <em><span style=\"color: red;\"><strong>until February 26, 2017<\/strong><\/span> <\/em>and in such cases, the CB shall issue certificates showing RSS-210 Issue 8 compliance.\u00a0 After <em><span style=\"color: red;\"><strong>February 26, 2017<\/strong> <\/span>,<\/em> CBs shall issue certificates showing RSS-210 Issue 9 compliance and test reports may continue to be in compliance with RSS-210 Issue 8 until <span style=\"color: red;\"><strong>August 26, 2017<\/strong><\/span>, only if: <\/span><\/div>\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">it is supplemented with a partial test report covering any missing requirements from RSS-210 Issue 9; or <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">it includes an attestation signed by the applicant, lab or CB indicating that the report covers all requirements in RSS-210 Issue 9. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"color: red;\"><strong>After August 26, 2017<\/strong><\/span>, all test reports must be compliant with RSS-210 Issue 9. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Industry Canada has updated RSS-210 to Issue 9.
